Uses: Neutral Methacrylate Copolymer is used as a disintegrant (see also excipients) in pharmaceutical tablets. Also recommended as a glazing agent for tablets and foods, and proposed use as hip replacements.
As this is a plastic, cyanide, sulphuric acid and formaldehyde bases, it is considered to be highly toxic, however, scientists regard it’s toxicity as low. Has been found to cause irritation on the skin, in the eyes and nasal cavities in animal subjects, with skin irritation in humans.
Could be carcinogenic. Avoid it. Light sensitive, hygroscopic. May cause damage to kidneys and stay in the system for up to a year. Can cause anaphylactic shock and also urticaria (hives). Avoid it.
Excess may cause damage to the lungs or kidneys, gas and faecal impaction.
