Uses:  Sorbitan Monopalmitate applications include emulsifier for the preparation of water /oil emulsions, emulsifier for insecticides, anti-foaming agent, used in conjunction with polysorbates in oil toppings, cake mixes, and in compounded chocolate.

 

May increase the absorption of liquid paraffin and fat-soluble substances. Emulsifier, stabiliser stopping sugar mixes from foaming.


These compounds (E430-E436) contain fatty acids, which are nearly always from vegetable oils; however, use of animal fat (including pork) cannot be fully ruled out.


Chemically, the origin of these compounds cannot be determined; only the producer may provide information on the origin.


May be harmful or act as an irritant - toxicology not fully investigated.


Avoid it.


Description: Sorbitan Monopalmitate is produced from sorbitol and palmitic acid, a normal fatty acid from vegetable or animal origin.
