The Poisons You Put On Your Face 5

                                               Triclosan

Triclosan is a chemical used for its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties in a number of detergents, toothpaste and skin care products. However, according to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), triclosan was first registered as a pesticide in 1969. In 2008, the EPA reviewed its toxicology, chemistry, and occupational/residential exposure studies when looking to complete its re-registration eligibility. After taking into consideration things like endocrine effects, developmental and reproductive toxicity, chronic toxicity, and carcinogenicity, they still registered it as only a pesticide.

The most recent study of triclosan, conducted in 2012, found that it could pose serious problems to humans, specifically in heart muscles and in skeletal muscle contractions. In the study, mice began experiencing “significantly impaired” heart function within 10 minutes of being administered the dose of triclosan.

Another experiment was conducted on mice and found a decrease in 18% in their grip-strength. A further test of minnows found that when exposed to triclosan pollutants in the water, the fish had a significantly decreased swimming ability, endurance, and predator avoidance. In conclusion, the researchers found that triclosan presented a “concern to both human and environmental health”, considering how pervasive triclosan exposure is.

Where to turn for healthy skin care

After reading these shocking facts, you have no doubt run to your medicine cabinet or bathroom counter and checked out the ingredients of your products that you use every day. Chances are, you have seen many, if not all, of the ingredients listed above. After dousing ourselves with these chemical laden products for decades, it is no wonder why people are facing some of the health challenges that are prevalent in today’s society.

We’ve spent many years researching what we put on our skin, and how it affects our skin in the long run. What we’ve found in our research has shocked us – we doubt anyone knows the full extent of the damage caused by most skin care products. After discovering all of these alarming facts, we decided to start researching to see if there were any safer and more effective alternatives. Our premise has always been not just to look at what a chemical or substance does, but to determine what the skin needs. And that guiding principle has led us to research and develop a product that works in harmony with your skin.

One of the basic principles of chemistry is that “like dissolves like.” Oil dissolves oil. The best way to dissolve the sebum/oil that has gotten dirty on your face is by using other oils. By using the right oils, you can cleanse your pores of dirt and bacteria naturally and effectively, while replacing the dirty oil with beneficial ones extracted from natural botanicals, vegetables and fruit.

This can create the environment that helps to heal, protect and nourish your skin. When this system is followed consistently, the right essential oils can clear the skin from issues like oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, as well as other problems caused by mild to moderate acne – while leaving your skin healthy, balanced and properly moisturized.

We developed a 100 percent pure and natural product which is free of any additives, parabens, petrochemicals, preservatives, and GMO’s. And most of all, it isn’t composed of dead chemicals, but live, cold-pressed extracts of fruits, nuts and plants. This is what we use, and we have found that it is safe and effective.
